Wingo Accelerates Bogotá–Valencia Route Launch to Mitigate Operational Impact in Venezuela Following Severe Earthquakes
Wingo has announced the early launch of its new commercial route between Bogotá and Valencia. Originally scheduled for July 14, flights have been moved up to Friday, July 3, 2026. The decision aims to mitigate the impact on binational air connectivity between Colombia and Venezuela following operational disruptions caused by recent earthquakes and the temporary closure of Maiquetía International Airport.
A Connectivity Alternative Amid the Contingency
Advancing these operations addresses the critical need to maintain passenger flow between both nations while airport conditions normalize. Eduardo Lombana, CEO of Wingo, expressed the company’s solidarity with those affected and highlighted the vital importance of air connectivity during crises.
“We know that staying connected is fundamental at times like this. That is why we decided to move up the launch of our Bogotá–Valencia operation, aiming to provide an additional travel alternative for our passengers and help maintain connectivity between both countries while airport operations normalize,” Lombana stated.

Flight Schedule and Frequencies for the New Route
To respond swiftly to immediate demand, Wingo has structured the rollout of the Bogotá–Valencia route into two operational phases:
- Contingency Operations (July 3 to July 9, 2026): The route will operate daily as part of the accelerated service launch.
- Regular Operations (Starting July 14, 2026): The airline will maintain a stable schedule of three weekly frequencies during morning hours.
This new service expands the network Wingo has been consolidating between Colombia and Venezuela, where it currently offers connections from Bogotá and Medellín to Caracas. The carrier specified that it expects to resume flights to the Venezuelan capital once suitable operational conditions are restored at Maiquetía International Airport.
Flexibility Measures for Caracas-Bound Passengers
As part of its contingency plan, the airline has activated a commercial protection and flexibility policy for customers with travel plans to or from the Venezuelan capital:
- Eligible Passengers: Passengers with bookings on the Bogotá–Caracas route with flights scheduled between June 26 and July 9, 2026.
- Alternative Offered: Voluntary reaccommodation on the new Bogotá–Valencia route.
- Financial Terms: The process will be carried out with waived change fees and fare differences, strictly subject to seat and operational availability.
- Customer Service Channels: Rerouting can be managed directly through the official website Wingo.com or via the airline’s Call Center.
Wingo reaffirmed its commitment to closely supporting travelers throughout this contingency, underscoring the role of its operations in maintaining air connectivity between Colombia and Venezuela. Furthermore, airline management stated they will continue to closely monitor infrastructure developments and will provide timely updates on any additional operational measures required to guarantee service.
