Iberia is making a decisive move in its seasonal connectivity strategy with the departure of its first direct flight to Tivat Airport from Madrid-Barajas this Saturday, July 18. This operation marks the airline’s historic first direct link to this coastal city in the Republic of Montenegro, one of the fastest-growing and most sophisticated tourism gems on the Adriatic Sea.
The seasonal route will remain operational until September 15. The schedule features twice-weekly flights, operating every Tuesday and Saturday. To meet this demand, Iberia will deploy its fleet of Airbus A320 narrowbody aircraft, injecting a capacity of over 6,300 seats throughout the two months of scheduled operations.
Schedules and Flight Operations
The scheduled operations will facilitate optimal rotation at the airline’s primary hub in Madrid. The schedules and frequencies for the new bidirectional link are detailed below:
- Madrid – Tivat: Operating Tuesdays and Saturdays, departing at 10:40 and arriving at 13:34 (local time).
- Tivat – Madrid: Operating Tuesdays and Saturdays, departing at 14:30 and arriving at 17:50 (local time).

Thanks to this schedule structure, passengers originating in Tivat and the surrounding region will be able to connect directly through Terminal 4 at the Madrid hub to the Spanish carrier’s extensive international network. This will boost transatlantic and European long-haul traffic feed into Southeastern Europe.
“Our goal is to continue offering our customers an increasingly attractive and diverse network. The addition of Tivat responds to growing traveler interest in discovering new destinations in the Adriatic and strengthens our seasonal summer offering. At the same time, this new route will connect Montenegro with Iberia’s extensive international network via Madrid,” said Víctor Moneo, Iberia’s Global Sales Director.
Tivat: An Exclusive and Emerging Tourism Hub
Nestled within the iconic Bay of Kotor—a UNESCO World Heritage site—the city of Tivat is currently establishing itself as one of the most coveted high-end hotspots in the Eastern Mediterranean. Its infrastructure is anchored by the development of Porto Montenegro, an iconic marina catering to the exclusive megayacht tourism sector and luxury hospitality.
Tivat’s geography not only makes it attractive for its coastline and diverse culinary scene, but it also serves as the perfect strategic hub for exploring the historic landmarks and unique beaches of the Montenegrin coast, facilitating efficient transfers to premier historical enclaves such as Kotor, Perast, and Budva.
