WestJet has reached a major milestone in its passenger experience overhaul after completing the interior reconfiguration of all narrowbody aircraft previously operating in single-class (all-economy) layouts for Swoop and Sunwing Airlines.

With this phase complete, the carrier has standardized its single-aisle fleet offerings, integrating upgraded Premium sections and expanded legroom in the Extended Comfort cabin, alongside a comprehensive aesthetic and functional interior refresh.

“Unifying our narrowbody fleet is a critical step in delivering the reliable, welcoming experience our guests and WestJetters expect from us. This milestone establishes a stronger foundation for our teams to focus on delivering exceptional service and a seamless travel journey for our guests.”

Legacy Fleet Modernization and Livery Alignment Timeline

Following the completion of the ex-Swoop and ex-Sunwing fleet integration, WestJet will begin retrofitting its legacy aircraft. The program includes the following key milestones:

  • Legacy Fleet Retrofit Rollout: September.
  • Current-Year Target: Upgrade of approximately 14 Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
  • Estimated Program Completion: Late 2027.
  • Exterior Livery Standardization: By the end of 2026, the entire fleet will feature WestJet’s iconic teal-and-navy flag exterior livery.

Seat Pitch Restoration Completed Ahead of Schedule

Parallel to the cabin standardization effort, WestJet concluded the restoration of seat pitch across its Boeing 737 fleet ahead of schedule. These aircraft had been temporarily operating in a high-density, 180-seat configuration.

While project completion was initially slated for the fall, operations teams finalized the reconfigurations in mid-June. Consequently, all affected aircraft now fly in a 174-seat configuration, equipped with refreshed interiors and upgraded product features, including TELUS inflight Wi-Fi.
