Copa Airlines Expands Connectivity in Colombia with Increased Frequencies to Bucaramanga and Pereira
Copa Airlines has announced the expansion of its international operations in Colombia through a strategic frequency increase to Bucaramanga and Pereira from its Hub of the Americas® in Panama City. The move aims to address sustained regional demand growth and streamline direct access across the Americas without requiring intermediate domestic connections.
Frequency Increases in Bucaramanga and Pereira
The carrier’s operational adjustments directly benefit two key secondary markets in Colombia:
- Panama City – Bucaramanga: Effective September 21, 2026, the route transitions to a daily service (seven weekly frequencies).
- Panama City – Pereira: Service will ramp up to 17 weekly frequencies, complemented by a specialized schedule boosting capacity to 18 weekly flights during the week of December 21, 2026, to accommodate peak year-end holiday traffic.
Paola Castano, Regional Sales Manager for the Andean Region at Copa Airlines, highlighted the strategic importance of both destinations:

The expanded schedule enables outbound passengers from Bucaramanga and Pereira to connect seamlessly with more than 75 destinations served by Copa Airlines via its Panama City connecting hub, spanning North America, South America, Central America, and the Caribbean. This network architecture optimizes both corporate and leisure travel flows by eliminating the need to transit through domestic gateways to access international flights.
Currently, Copa Airlines maintains a comprehensive network footprint in Colombia, operating over 220 weekly flights across 10 destinations:
- Bogota
- Barranquilla
- Bucaramanga
- Cali
- Cartagena
- Cucuta
- Medellin
- Pereira
- Santa Marta
- San Andres
Through this deployment, the carrier solidifies its competitive position in providing direct international air connectivity across Colombia’s regional markets.
