SWISS Rolls Out Starlink High-Speed Internet: Commercial Debut on an Airbus A320neo
Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) has commenced the phased rollout of its new high-speed satellite connectivity system powered by Starlink technology. The service will provide passengers with fast, reliable internet access above the clouds, available gate-to-gate.
Debut on Zurich–Thessaloniki Route
The carrier’s first aircraft equipped with the system is an Airbus A320neo, registered as HB-JDM and christened “Iseltwald.”
Its commercial revenue service entry was slated for Monday, September 28, 2026, operating flight LX1852 between Zurich and Thessaloniki.
This initiative is part of the comprehensive group-wide deployment marketed under the brand name “Lufthansa Group Wi-Fi powered by Starlink.”
Complimentary Access and Passenger Capabilities
The new inflight connectivity service features access terms tailored to frequent flyers and registered users:
- Complimentary Access: Available free of charge to Miles & More members and users registered with a Travel ID.
- All Travel Classes: The perk extends across all cabin classes.
- Functionality: Passengers can send messages, share photos, and access a wide range of online services throughout the flight.

Rollout Schedule and Fleet-Wide Deployment by 2029
The connectivity modernization program across the SWISS fleet will be executed in successive phases:
- Initial Short- and Medium-Haul Fleet: The airline will soon equip three additional Airbus A320 family aircraft.
- Progressive Retrofit: Following this initial phase, installations will proceed gradually across the remainder of the fleet.
- 2029 Target: The entire SWISS fleet is projected to be fitted with Starlink technology by year-end 2029.
Inflight Etiquette and Usage Guidelines
To maintain cabin comfort and passenger well-being during flight, the airline has outlined specific policies for onboard network usage:
- Audio and Video: Passengers streaming or playing audiovisual content must use headphones at all times and remain attentive to crew announcements.
- Prohibited Calls and Broadcasts: Voice calls, video calls, and live streaming are strictly prohibited inflight.
- Privacy: Travelers sharing photos, videos, or other media must respect the privacy of fellow passengers and crew members.
Through the integration of “Lufthansa Group Wi-Fi powered by Starlink,” SWISS continues to transform the passenger experience, working toward fleet-wide high-speed satellite broadband connectivity by the end of the decade.
