On July 4, 2026, Copa Airlines achieved a major operational milestone in the region by becoming the first Latin American carrier to introduce high-speed inflight connectivity powered by Starlink, following the departure of its first aircraft outfitted with the technology. The deployment delivers a low-latency, high-bandwidth passenger experience throughout the flight.
Streaming Capabilities and Inflight Digital Experience
Unlike legacy airborne connectivity systems, the integration of Starlink’s satellite constellation allows passengers seamless access to high-bandwidth services. Key onboard capabilities include:
- Real-time streaming: Live sports broadcasts, on-demand movies, and television series.
- Enterprise platforms: Reliable support for cloud-based workplace productivity applications.
- Advanced web browsing and entertainment: Seamless web navigation and low-latency online gaming.
- Digital messaging: Uninterrupted, real-time messaging and communication.
Gate-to-gate service is available across most of the airline’s route network. However, the carrier notes that service may be unavailable while on the ground or during final approach in certain jurisdictions due to local regulatory constraints or geographic coverage boundaries.

Pricing Structure and Access Policies
Inflight Wi-Fi access offers both complimentary and paid tiers depending on passenger status and existing subscriptions with the satellite provider:
Complimentary Access
- Frequent flyers: Gold, Platinum, and Presidential members of the ConnectMiles loyalty program.
- Premium cabin: Passengers traveling in Business Class (Clase Ejecutiva).
- Satellite subscribers: Active residential and commercial accounts enrolled in Starlink Residential and Starlink Roam plans.
Standard Passenger Rates
For all other passengers, connectivity can be purchased through the onboard captive portal managed directly by Starlink, offered at an introductory rate of USD 2.50 per device, per flight.
Connection Protocol and Fleet Identification
To connect to the onboard local area network (LAN), passengers can follow a straightforward procedure on their mobile devices or laptops:
- Enable Airplane Mode on the device.
- Enable Wi-Fi and connect to the network:
wifi.starlink.com. - Ensure any active Virtual Private Network (VPN) is temporarily disabled to prevent connectivity and authentication conflicts.
- Open a web browser and follow the on-screen prompts.
To determine whether an aircraft is equipped with the system, passengers receive a pre-flight informational email detailing scheduled onboard amenities. Additionally, Starlink-equipped aircraft are identified at the departure gate and can be verified once inside the cabin when the network SSID appears on passenger devices.
Currently, 21 aircraft in the fleet have the hardware installed and fully operational. Copa Airlines’ fleet-wide retrofit program is scheduled to achieve full fleet rollout by the first quarter of 2027.
