JetBlue launched daily nonstop service between Fort Lauderdale and Barranquilla’s Ernesto Cortissoz International Airport on Thursday. The new operation strengthens air connectivity between South Florida and the Colombian Caribbean, offering competitive fares and key connections across the US carrier’s broader network.
Strategic Expansion in the Colombian Market
JetBlue’s arrival in Barranquilla marks a key milestone in the airline’s expansion across Colombia. With this route launch, the capital of Atlántico joins Medellín and Cartagena in the carrier’s network, ahead of its planned entry into Cali later this month.
Once the Cali service commences, JetBlue will serve four destinations in Colombia, cementing Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport’s position as a primary gateway hub channeling passenger traffic between the United States, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
Daniel Shurz, JetBlue’s Senior Vice President of Revenue, Network, and Enterprise Planning, stated:
“We are excited to welcome Barranquilla to the JetBlue network and provide customers with another great travel option between South Florida and Colombia. Fort Lauderdale continues to serve as a vital connecting gateway for JetBlue, linking travelers in Barranquilla not only to South Florida, but also to destinations across our wider network in the US and beyond. This new service builds on our long track record of service in Colombia, while delivering the competitive fares and award-winning onboard experience business travelers, tourists, and VFR passengers expect from JetBlue.”
