Singapore Airlines to Invest Over US$1.56 Billion in Next-Generation Long-Haul Cabins and Global Passenger Experience Overhaul

Singapore Airlines has unveiled the most extensive overall transformation of its long-haul passenger product to date, backed by an investment exceeding S$2 billion (approximately US$1.56 billion). Slated to debut in the second half of 2027, the strategic rollout will introduce next-generation seating, Starlink satellite connectivity, 4K resolution displays, and a comprehensive overhaul of both in-flight and ground-handling services.

The announcement was made in Singapore, with Singapore’s Minister for Transport, Jeffrey Siow, attending as the guest of honour alongside the carrier’s executive leadership team.

Fleet Modernisation and Market Research

The development of the new First Class, Business Class, Premium Economy Class, and Economy Class cabins is the culmination of exhaustive global market research involving more than 5,000 frequent flyers, customers, crew members, and industry specialists through focus groups, in-depth interviews, surveys, and concept trials.

The study identified a sharp increase in passenger demand for greater privacy, ergonomic support, versatile space for rest and productivity, and seamless connectivity.

Reflecting on the milestone, Singapore Airlines Chief Executive Officer Goh Choon Phong stated:

“This launch marks another significant milestone in Singapore Airlines’ unwavering commitment to elevating the end-to-end travel experience. Our customers view Singapore Airlines as a seamless journey, and this substantial investment is engineered to deliver enhanced comfort, greater choice, and convenience across every touchpoint.”

The rollout reinforces Singapore Airlines’ competitive positioning across premium long-haul international routes. Commercial entry into service for the new cabin interiors will formally commence in the second half of 2027, coinciding with deliveries of the upcoming Boeing 777-9 fleet and the cabin retrofit programme across its 41 Airbus A350-900 and A350-900ULR aircraft.
