Aerolíneas Argentinas and Austral reach an agreement with their pilots for their merger.

Aerolíneas Argentinas and Austral have reached an agreement with their pilots to merge the two companies, which will improve flight scheduling, unify operating criteria and make the organizational structure more efficient, reported EuropaPress.

From this agreement, the work of the pilots will be developed under the same rules and criteria, their ranks will be integrated and their union representation will be unified, which will improve the productivity of the fleet.

“We have taken a fundamental step towards the realization of the merger of Aerolíneas Argentinas and Austral. We reached an agreement between the pilots of both companies that puts an end to a history of disagreements in our airline”, explained the president of the company Pablo Ceriani.

The head of Aerolíneas Argentinas added that “at the beginning of this pandemic we mainly set two goals: to put all our work at the service of the country, with repatriation flights and cargo operations with medical material, and to make the necessary changes to improve the productivity of our company and to overcome the worst crisis in the aerocommercial industry”.

Along with the merger, the company is developing a new business unit to provide aircraft maintenance to other companies and industry players with an independent logic that will take advantage of the reputation gained by the company in safety matters, the international certifications it has and the infrastructure it has.

Likewise, progress is being made in the creation of a cargo business unit, which will take advantage of the experience gained by the company in its cargo flights to Shanghai and which in turn represents an old outstanding debt of the company regarding the development of a specific unit for the transportation of goods.
