European regulators in January lifted a ban on 737 MAX flights following a review of the design and pilot training in the wake of crashes that killed 346 people.
Smartwings has seven of these aircraft in its fleet and the first of them was back in service on a scheduled flight between Prague and Malaga. It aims to have the other six aircraft in operation by the summer season, the airline said.
