In December 2021, Mexican airline Viva Aerobus exceeded, for the first time for the airline, more than 1.6 million passengers. This figure represented a 46% growth compared to the same month in 2019.

As for annual passenger traffic in 2021, it reported a 27% increase compared to 2019 with more than 15.2 million passengers, a record number for the airline, and with an occupancy factor of 84%.
“Our ultra-low-cost business model allowed us to continue to stimulate demand and serve more than 15 million passengers last year, exceeding our pre-pandemic demand levels and with a healthy occupancy factor despite the waves of Covid-19 during 2021. Our nonstop service, low fares, new fleet and unmatched reliability have been key to the preference and trust passengers have placed in us during this pandemic,” said Juan Carlos Zuazua, CEO of Viva Aerobus.
