Colombia: Viva trains low-income youths as Flight Attendants
With the purpose of generating equal opportunities for all Colombians, the airline and its Viva Foundation launched the Viva Sin Límites strategy, through which 22 men and women, mostly from strata 1 and 2, from the departments of Antioquia, Valle del Cauca, Bolívar and Chocó, are trained as flight attendants.
The program, which has been in operation for three months and includes a full scholarship at the Indoamerican Aviation School in Bogota, provides academic training, maintenance during the training process and subsequent employability within the airline for participants who successfully complete their studies.

“Viva sin Límites is a project of which we are proud, because it allows us to demonstrate that at Viva we fly differently. Articulated with our Viva Foundation, we land with opportunities in the destinations we reach as an airline. Today we are changing the realities of 22 young people who did not have the opportunity to train as professionals and, thanks to this process, we will be able to recruit wonderful people to our work teams, who will allow us to continue bringing air inclusion to all corners of the country”, said Felix Antelo, CEO & President of Grupo Viva.
Viva sin Límites responds to two strategic lines of Fundación Viva: Viva la Educación and Viva la Inclusión, through which it intends to challenge what is known and contribute to the personal and professional growth of young people to form an increasingly diverse crew, allowing travelers to identify with the DNA of the Company.
“From Fundación Viva we are focusing all our efforts on this project, where most of the selected students are responsible for the sources of income in their homes, 60% of them have children resulting from teenage pregnancies and 95% of them have never had an income higher than the minimum wage; that is why we hope that through Viva Sin Limites we can help improve their living conditions and impact their realities positively,” said Monica Gil, CEO of Fundación Viva.
This ‘flight’, in which 22 active students are participating, will culminate its academic phase on June 21 and will allow them to transform their realities in the same way that Viva has transformed the way Colombians fly during these ten years of its trajectory in the country.
