USA: Lufthansa flight diverted after “significant turbulence”.
A German airline Lufthansa flight, which experienced “significant turbulence” at 37,000 feet, was diverted to Washington-Dulles International Airport and seven people on board were taken to area hospitals, officials said.
Flight 469 operated by an Airbus A330-300, which took off from Austin, Texas, and was bound for Frankfurt, Germany, landed safely Wednesday at 9:10 p.m. at Dulles Airport, according to Michael Cabbage, spokesman for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority.

Seven people were taken to hospitals with minor injuries, according to Cabbage.
“A brief but severe turbulence occurred about 90 minutes after takeoff and resulted in minor injuries to some passengers,” Lufthansa said in a statement.
“This was so-called clear air turbulence, which can occur without visible weather phenomena or advance warning,” the airline added.
