American Airlines earns $1.348 billion in first half of the year
American Airlines announced Thursday that it posted a profit of $1.348 billion in the first half of the year, reversing a loss of $1.159 billion in the same period of 2022.
Operating revenue between January and June amounted to 26,244 million, 17.6% more than in the same period of 2022.
For the second quarter of the year, the airline posted a profit of US$1.338 billion, almost three times the US$466 million achieved between April and June last year.

Revenue for the second quarter of 2023 stood at $14.055 billion, up 4.7% from the second quarter of 2022.
In a statement, the airline said it achieved record profits in the second quarter, thanks mainly “to the continued strength of demand”.
“Demand was particularly strong in June, driven by increased flight bookings. Domestic and short-haul international revenue continues to perform well, and the airline has seen notable strength in long-haul international demand,” the airline said.
