AAR, a leading provider of aviation services to commercial and government operators, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) customers, has received approval from the Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners to proceed with the construction of a 114,000-square-foot facility adjacent to the company’s existing hangar at Miami International Airport (MIA), as announced earlier this week.

AAR plans to break ground on the new facility in early 2024 and complete construction in 24 months. Over time, Miami-Dade County is expected to reimburse the $50 million planned for the hangar construction. This will increase AAR Miami Airframe MRO capacity by 33%.

“As a leader in international passengers and cargo, MIA is one of the busiest and best mega-airports in the country – and AAR’s significant infrastructure investment only advances our local aviation industry,” said Daniella Levine Cava, mayor of Miami-Dade County.

This project supports the extension and expansion of AAR’s relationship with United Airlines, with which the company has been contracted to provide a minimum of 10 maintenance support lines at its Miami, Florida and Rockford, Illinois facilities. The additional workload will create more than 250 jobs in Miami.
