JetSMART has announced the opening of its new direct route between Asunción (Paraguay) and Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), reinforcing its commitment to offering affordable and efficient flights in the region. Operations will begin on January 9, 2026, expanding the airline’s network of destinations in South America.
The route will operate three times per week—Mondays, Fridays, and Sundays—using Airbus A320 family aircraft.
JetSMART projects it will transport more than 46,000 passengers between both destinations in its first year of operation. This figure reflects not only the tourism potential but also the opportunity to boost bilateral trade between Paraguay and Brazil.

Verónica Marambio Álvarez, Commercial Manager of International Markets and Regional Development at JetSMART, emphasized that this new connection will allow more Paraguayans to discover Brazil’s attractive destinations. She also highlighted that passengers will be able to earn and redeem miles within a global network, thereby expanding their travel opportunities.
