Tocumen International Airport, Panama’s main air terminal, continues to strengthen its position as one of the most important hubs on the continent. During the first nine months of 2025, the airfield handled 15,490,226 passengers, representing an 8% increase compared to the same period the previous year. In absolute terms, this equates to over 1.1 million additional travelers compared to 2024.
In September alone, the airport registered 1,716,646 passengers, compared to 1,570,504 in the same month of 2024. This increase of 146,142 travelers, equivalent to 9% growth, is attributed to the dynamism generated by major events held in Panama City, such as the twenty-second edition of the Premios Juventud. These activities boosted tourist arrivals and reinforced the country’s image as a destination for entertainment, business, and tourism, consolidating its role as a hub for connectivity, commerce, and logistics.
International Transit and Global Connectivity
Of the total passengers handled in September, 75% were transit passengers, meaning 1,286,661 people. This figure confirms Tocumen’s strategic relevance as a linking point between Europe, the Caribbean, and North, Central, and South America.
Between January and September, 2,087,351 people entered Panama, representing a 4% increase compared to the same period in 2024. Meanwhile, 2,150,444 passengers departed the country, with 1% growth.

Commitment to Operational Excellence
The General Manager of Tocumen International Airport, Jose Ruiz Blanco, emphasized that these results reflect the coordinated work between airlines, authorities, and staff.
“Tocumen is not just an air transit point, but a key platform that drives Panama’s competitiveness, trade, and tourism. Our sustained growth is the result of working together to offer an efficient, safe, and world-class experience,” stated Ruiz Blanco.
With these results, Tocumen International Airport reaffirms its role as an engine of development for Panama and as one of the region’s main air connection hubs.
