Dominican carrier Arajet has bolstered its operational capacity and commitment to sustainable tourism following the delivery of its 14th aircraft, a Boeing 737 MAX 8. This strategic move not only expands its route network but also positions the airline as a key player in promoting the Dominican Republic’s natural resources.

An Ambassador for Dominican Biodiversity

In line with its corporate strategy, Arajet has christened this newest fleet member “Salto de Jimenoa”. This practice aims to identify each aircraft with a protected area or ecological reserve within the country to raise the international profile of the Dominican Republic’s natural heritage.

The name pays tribute to an ecotourism icon located in Jarabacoa, La Vega province, renowned for the stunning waterfalls of the Jimenoa I and II rivers. With this addition, “Salto de Jimenoa” joins other emblematic landmarks already represented in the fleet, such as:

  • Pico Duarte
  • Los Tres Ojos
  • Bahía de las Águilas
  • Isla Saona

Víctor Pacheco Méndez, CEO and founder of Arajet, stated that every aircraft bearing the name of a protected area serves as a biodiversity ambassador, promoting the responsible tourism essential for sustainable development.

Furthermore, Rogelio Genao, Senator for La Vega province, highlighted that collaboration between the public sector and private enterprises like Arajet drives connectivity and enhances the Dominican Republic’s competitiveness as a diverse Caribbean destination.

With the integration of “Salto de Jimenoa,” Arajet reaffirms its vision of connecting the Dominican Republic to the world, utilizing a modern fleet that balances commercial growth with environmental stewardship.
