Volaris Expands Fleet to 157 Aircraft with Addition of Two New Planes
Volaris has formally integrated its 156th and 157th aircraft into its fleet, consolidating its strategy for modernization and operational renewal. With the arrival of these next-generation units, the airline strengthens its position as one of the operators with the youngest and most efficient fleets in the region, focused on sustainability and international growth.
Technical Details of the New Aircraft
The new units belong to the A320neo family from European manufacturer Airbus, both originating from the assembly plant located in Mobile, Alabama, United States. The aircraft specifications are as follows:
- Airbus A320neo (Registration XA-TVH): Configured with a capacity to carry 186 passengers.
- Airbus A321neo (Registration XA-VUZ): Designed for high density, with a capacity for 239 passengers.
The incorporation of these models allows the company to optimize seat cost, offering greater capacity in key markets without compromising fuel efficiency.
Operational Deployment and New Routes for 2026
The Airbus A320neo has already commenced commercial operations from Mexico City International Airport. Meanwhile, the Airbus A321neo is scheduled to enter service in mid-May 2026.
These aircraft will be fundamental to strengthening Volaris’ route network. According to the company’s plans, the equipment will be used to bolster operations on new routes starting in June 2026, connecting strategic cities such as:
- Mexico: Guadalajara, Puebla, and Queretaro.
- United States: Los Angeles, Newark, and Houston.
Leadership and Commitment to Sustainability
With the arrival of these planes, 66% of the Volaris fleet now consists of new-generation models. This progress aligns with corporate objectives for reducing environmental impact, as “neo” engines are noted for their low emissions and energy efficiency.
Enrique Beltranena, President and CEO of Volaris, highlighted that the integration of these units reflects the airline’s commitment to a more comfortable and sustainable travel experience. The strategy seeks not only operational profitability but also to foster a cleaner aviation industry through the use of cutting-edge technology.
