Methodology and Scope of the 2026 World Airline Awards

Globally known in the airline industry as “the Oscars of aviation,” the World Airline Awards were established in 1999 as an independent and impartial initiative aimed at measuring customer satisfaction on a global scale.

Skytrax’s audit and voting model is characterized by:

  • Financial independence: Skytrax covers all survey and awards ceremony costs, operating without sponsorships.
  • Free entry process: Airlines are not charged registration fees, gala access is complimentary, and there are no royalties or fees for using the official awards brands and logos.
  • Voting sample: The survey was conducted between September 2025 and August 2026, registering 24.8 million eligible responses from travelers of over 100 nationalities.
  • Control filters: Internet Protocol addresses and user information were audited to eliminate duplicate or inconsistent entries.
  • Multilingual scope: The study evaluated over 300 airlines with forms available in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Turkish, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.

Securing its eleventh Skytrax award consolidates Copa Airlines’ service and efficiency model, reaffirming its competitive positioning in Central America and the Caribbean through its network of 80 destinations across the American continent.
