Lessor Icelease has finalized an agreement with Boeing for the conversion of up to three Boeing Converted Freighter (BCF) widebody aircraft, bolstering the operational capacity of its affiliate IAT Leasing amid sustained global air cargo demand.
Strategic Agreement and Delivery Schedule
The commitment includes a firm order for one 767-300BCF alongside purchase options for up to two additional airframes. This transaction aligns with Icelease’s strategic push to expand its dedicated freighter asset portfolio.
Key timeline milestones for the initial aircraft include:
- Conversion Induction: Scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.
- Redelivery: Projected for the second quarter of 2027.
- Modification Facility: Structural and technical conversion work will be carried out by Boeing at ST Engineering’s airframe Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility in Singapore.
The contract was formally executed on October 22, 2026, during the Cargo Facts Symposium industry conference.

Portfolio Expansion and Commercial Partnership
Integrating this type will directly enhance the asset base managed by IAT Leasing, an Icelease sister company headquartered in Dublin, Ireland.
A Two-Decade Partnership
Sigthor Einarsson, Managing Partner at Icelease, emphasized the operational significance of the deal:
“This agreement with Boeing to convert up to three Boeing 767 aircraft marks an important milestone for both Icelease and its Dublin-based sister company, IAT Leasing. The partnership between Icelease and Boeing spans over 20 years, encompassing numerous new aircraft deliveries as well as freighter conversions. The Boeing 767-300BCF will join IAT Leasing’s expanding freighter fleet, which already includes seven Boeing 737-800BCFs and other freighters leased across an international customer base.”
Representing the US airframer, Lindsey Douglas, Vice President of Cabin, Modifications, Maintenance, and Digital Services at Boeing, stated:
“Icelease is a valued partner across our Boeing Converted Freighter programs, and this agreement highlights our ongoing collaboration to address global freighter capacity needs. The 767-300BCF is a proven performer in the air cargo sector, and we remain confident it will continue delivering strong operational value for years to come.”
Boeing 767-300BCF Operational Capabilities
The 767-300BCF stands as the industry’s most efficient medium widebody converted freighter, characterized by the following key performance specifications:
- Payload: Maximum structural payload capacity of up to 57 tonnes (approx. 125,660 lbs).
- Range: Up to 3,300 nautical miles (6,112 km).
With modification work slated to commence in early 2027 in Singapore, this commitment secures strategic conversion slots for Icelease and IAT Leasing, positioning both entities to capture key market share across medium- to long-haul international freight routes.
