Ecuatoriana Airlines began the process of obtaining an operating permit for the provision of air transport services, public, domestic, regular, passenger, cargo and mail combined, for commercial purposes. The application was filed on August 31, 2020 before the National Council of Civil Aviation.
This entity must review that the fulfillment of all the requirements and after its acceptance, the company must obtain the Air Operator Certificate at the Dirección General de Aviación Civil (DGAC). This document is required to enable the company’s operations in Ecuador.
To obtain its certification, airlines must go through some phases. The first one is a pre-application. Then a formal application, documentation evaluation, inspection and demonstration and certification. Afterwards, the procedures are analyzed and what is described in the certification manual is checked and verified through a demonstration flight.
Ecuatoriana Airlines intends to fly between the cities of Quito, Guayaquil, Cuenca, Esmeraldas, Santa Rosa, Loja, Tulcan, Coca, Macas and Manta. It also plans to operate with a fleet of Beechcraft B1900C, Bombardier Dash 8-Q2002, ATR 42-500, Airbus A-220-100, Airbus A319-320 and Boeing 737-300-400-500 aircraft.
The company’s headquarters will be in Quito and will operate from the Mariscal Sucre Airport in the capital of the Republic.
