American Airlines plans to begin passenger flights with the Boeing 737 Max later this year depending on the aircraft’s certification by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the airline said Sunday.

The company said it will operate a daily flight with the 737 Max between Miami and New York from December 29 to January 4. Flights will be available for booking from October 24th.

“We remain in contact with the FAA and Boeing in the certification process and will continue to update our plans based on the aircraft’s certification date,” the company said in a statement.

The FAA is expected to lift the ban on 737 Max flights in November.
