Spain: Iberia group surpasses Ryanair in number passengers in November.

The airlines of the Iberia group (Iberia, Iberia Express and Air Nostrum) surpassed those of Ryanair in November in terms of the number of passengers transported in Spain, although the latter continued to lead traffic in the first eleven months of the year, according to data from Aena.

With 471,875 passengers in November, the airlines of the Iberia group were ahead of both Ryanair, with a total of 381,264 (almost half of the 738,642 of the previous month), and Vueling, with 168,698 (less than a third of the 561,515 of October), which was also surpassed by Air Europa, with 169,427, reported EFE.

So far this year, the Irish group has maintained its leadership with 11.4 million passengers in Spain, followed by Iberia with 8.2 million, Vueling with 7.5 million and Air Europa with almost 4 million.

In November, Grupo Iberia took over from Ryanair in first place, thanks to domestic traffic, which registered the highest number of passengers of all operators, with a total of 291,320, as the Irish company remained in the lead in international traffic.

After the Iberia airlines, the second in terms of domestic traffic in November was Binter Canarias, with 202,317 passengers, followed by Vueling, with 125,785, Ryanair, with 108,611, and Air Europa, with 97,632.

As for international traffic, the Ryanair group carried 272,653 passengers in Spain during November, followed by Iberia, with 180,555; Air Europa, with 71,795, and Vueling, with 42,913.

In the first eleven months of the year, Vueling continued to be the leading company in terms of the number of passengers carried on domestic routes, with close to 4.8 million, followed by the Iberia group, with 4.1 million; Air Europa, with 2.1 million; Binter, with just over 2 million, and Ryanair, with almost 2 million.

With regard to international flights, Ryanair continued to lead traffic in Spain, with 9.4 million passengers, more than double the volume of 4.1 million of the Iberia group, in second place, followed by Vueling, with 2.7 million, and Air Europa, with 1.9 million.
