The new Colombian airline Ultra Air received this Monday its first aircraft, an Airbus A320-214, at José María Córdova International Airport in Rionegro, serving the city of Medellín, from Tampa, Florida.

This first aircraft has a capacity to transport 180 passengers and is about 16 years old.

The new low cost carrier is getting closer and closer to start operations, and promises to further revolutionize the domestic and international airline market.

At the end of June, the Civil Aeronautics approved Ultra Air S.A.S.’s application to be certified as an air operator in the Colombian market, in order to provide air transport services for passengers, mail and cargo.

The airline expects to offer flights between major Colombian cities, as well as international destinations such as Mexico, Ecuador, Peru, Dominican Republic, Aruba, Curacao and the United States.
