This Tuesday sees the premiere of Espacio Iberia in the heart of Madrid. A 350 square meter space where the airline’s customers and the general public will be able to enjoy its latest novelties: the new in-flight experience and the new uniforms that the airline will be launching in less than fifteen days, wine tastings of its in-flight wine cellar and even a virtual reality flight over New York.

Visitors will also be able to purchase models of its aircraft, replicas of historical posters and the Teresa Helbig-designed handbag that employees will be wearing from June 1 in their new uniforms.

Iberia launches Flash Offers, a new portal with limited time offers.

Espacio Iberia is located at Calle Velázquez, 37 and is open every day from 12:00 to 21:00 from Monday to Sunday, including holidays, from today until June 30.

Business experience in the heart of Madrid

The Iberia Space has recreated the cabin of an airplane, with two Business seats, four Premium Economy seats and four Economy seats, where visitors can enjoy the experience as it is offered in flight at 30,000 feet but without having to take off from the ground.

There they will have the opportunity to taste the new gastronomic proposal offered on board while enjoying the comfort of the Business and Premium Economy cabins.

They will enjoy the onboard menus, prepared daily by DO&CO in its kitchens and based on the richness of the Mediterranean diet, with high quality raw materials and local seasonal products.

Since June 1, new appetizers, more main course and dessert options, and a new cadence in restaurant-style service with more interaction with the crew have been incorporated on board on all the airline’s routes, and from now on in this Iberia Space. The tableware and table linens are also renewed and offer details as original and Spanish as the salt and pepper shakers of “Las Meninas”.

And if “traveling” in Economy, visitors to Espacio Iberia can try the pre-order service, Iberia’s product for short- and medium-haul flights that allows customers to choose in advance the food they want to eat on board while avoiding food waste.

The in-flight experience for visitors is completed with a very special Lavazza coffee.

Show cooking, wine and beer tastings

Iberia offers on board its flights an extensive wine list, selected from the best Spanish appellations by the Wine Club. In the Iberia Space, not only can these wines be tasted, but several tastings are organized every week where a sommelier from the Wine Club explains the characteristics of each label.

There are also beer tastings -guided by a Mahou beer sommelier-, which can also be booked in advance online or at the reception of Espacio Iberia, as the capacity is limited.

Iberia and Angolan airline TAAG announce codeshare agreement.

But the fun doesn’t stop there. Iberia’s catering supplier, DO&CO, performs three times a week a cooking show in this space in Velázquez street, in which it will explain to the visitors of Espacio Iberia the characteristics of the elaboration of the menus on board an airplane and the organoleptic qualities of the different foods, with a tasting at the end of the show with beer pairing by Mahou.

Wearing the uniforms of yesterday and today

Another attraction of this space is, without a doubt, the uniforms. Not only are on display all the uniforms that Iberia staff have worn throughout history, from the first, military-inspired uniform, to those of Pedro Rogriguez and the iconic ones by Elio Berhanyer and Pertegaz, Alfredo Caral, the current one by Adolfo Dominguez and the one that will be released in a few days -on June 1-, designed by Teresa Helbig. Visitors to Espacio Iberia will be able to try them all on and have their pictures taken with a fun 360º Glam Cam; and Iberia will send a slowmotion gift to each user.

Free messaging, digitization, in-flight entertainment and virtual reality

Digitalization will play a key role in making the travel experience more sustainable and personalized, so starting in June, the airline will launch its digital menu card, available at iberia.com, where customers will be able to consult the menu for their flight before traveling.

Another major new feature in June will be the free messaging product for Iberia Plus customers and those traveling in the Business cabin during the entire flight. This new service will allow sharing messages via WhatsApp, Telegram, Messenger, Facebook Messenger and sending e-mails without attachments.

In-flight entertainment will also have a more up-to-date and user-friendly layout and much more content: more than 160 movies with the latest Hollywood releases, Spanish cinema and options for children, more than 480 series, documentaries and master classes, and more than 230 options including playlists, CDs and podcasts.

In addition, every weekend Iberia will offer a virtual reality experience in its Velázquez Street space that will allow visitors to fly over the Big Apple, as if they were superheroes.

The Espacio Iberia store

Espacio Iberia will also have a small store with models of its aircraft, historical posters, the Las Meninas salt and pepper shakers that will be offered in the new in-flight service in Business, and a version of Teresa Helbig’s red uniform bag, which Iberia will launch on June 1, among other items.

Part of the store’s profits will go to the Gasol Foundation.
