The premiere “in the air” of the new uniforms is scheduled for next June and Iberia wanted to coincide with the launch of its renewed gastronomic proposal on board all its flights.

Almost 7,000 company employees will wear the new designs in a great international showcase: the nearly 140 destinations in 43 countries to which the airline flies; in a first phase, the Flight and Airport staff of the Madrid Hub will do so, and later, the rest of the stopovers will be added.

Iberia opens a new space in Madrid to enjoy its latest novelties.

The new Iberia uniform is a sober, elegant and functional proposal that represents a natural balance between the hallmarks of Teresa Helbig’s identity and the current image of the airline that culminates, with this iconic element, the rebranding process that began in 2013.

The Catalan designer starts from classic tailoring to create light and modern designs, but without being anchored to current trends to mark its timelessness. A collection that combines craftsmanship, haute couture and cutting-edge materials in a look at the past with an eye to the future to continue reinventing tomorrow.

“The new uniform is a key part of our brand, a sign of identity that reinforces our commitment to fashion and the values of Spanish culture. We want our employees to feel proud to wear it and to represent Iberia,” said Gema Juncá, Iberia’s Brand & Marketing Director.

The collection: sophistication and personality

Teresa Helbig’s proposal is based on classic tailoring -the firm’s hallmark- to create a very modern, serene, versatile wardrobe that combines the necessary pragmatism of everyday and common garments for both flight and airport employees.

The collection brings together twenty garments such as dresses, skirts, pants, blouses, coats and accessories such as scarves, ties, bags or gloves, in a clear commitment to an elegant, practical and avant-garde style, made of quality fabrics and maximum functionality.

Brazil fines Iberia US$270,000.

As novelties, the uniform incorporates – in addition to the classic shoe in high and medium heels – low shoes (without heels) and a piece as current and functional as the sneakers, along with the down vest as an alternative to the male coat and a new design in the neck of the knitwear that includes a corporate detail on the sleeve to bring energy to the look.

Proximity, avant-garde and service vocation, Iberia’s values that have inspired Teresa Helbig

For the design of this collection, the designer has been inspired by Iberia’s values: closeness, vanguard and service vocation.

One of the main challenges has been to adapt the creative concept of haute couture to mass production and to the needs of the different profiles and job requirements of the employees who will wear it. “I want them to feel beautiful, flattered, empowered and proud to wear us,” says Helbig.

In his proposal, aesthetics and design are paramount, seeking a balance between functionality and beauty. “We have created this proposal from emotion, because flying and designing are very similar: both try to materialize dreams. We have not thought of these pieces as mere uniforms, but as garments that, in addition to being comfortable and functional, are flattering and maintain their style and elegance over the years”, emphasizes the designer.

Teresa Helbig -a benchmark in Spanish fashion- is the first woman to design the Iberia uniform and joins the list of designers -Pedro Rodríguez, Manuel Pertegaz, Elio Bernhayer, Alfredo Caral and Adolfo Domínguez- who from 1952 to 2022 have made their know-how available to the airline for the creation of its uniforms.
