Air transport continues to consolidate itself as a fundamental factor of economic growth, engine of development and strengthening of tourism in Colombia. The figures prove it: from January 1 to June 30 of this year, 22,683,175 passengers were mobilized by air, of which 15,848,687 correspond to travelers to and from national destinations and 6,834,488 to passengers to and from international destinations.
In percentage terms, the increase in passenger transport reached 101.8% in the first half of this year; this is slightly more than double compared to the same period in 2021.

Regarding domestic operations, the airports with the highest mobility were: Bogotá, with 16,374,033 passengers, Rionegro with 5,906,394, Cali with 3,486,856 and Cartagena with 3,461,636 passengers.
In international operations, the airports with the highest mobility were: Bogotá, with 4,859,895 passengers, Rionegro with 1,195,289, Cali with 545,149 and Cartagena with 444,733 passengers mobilized.
For the Minister of Transport, Ángela María Orozco, “these record figures show the enormous effort that, with facts and as a team, the national Government has been making to strengthen air transport, as a fundamental engine of momentum for other sectors that are so important in our economy. such as tourism and trade. I want to highlight, for example, that the month with the highest mobilization so far this year is April, in which a total of 3,931,695 passengers were mobilized.

FREIGHT TRANSPORT
Regarding air cargo transport, during the first six months of 2022 a total of 454,032 tons were transported, of which 73,053 correspond to national cargo and 380,980 to international cargo.
Bogotá leads the figures with 395,763 tons of cargo transported and Rionegro with 56,489 tons.
The month in which there was the greatest rebound was April with a total of 85,453 tons of cargo transported.
