Panama: Tocumen Airport handled 1.3 million passengers in June

The Tocumen International Airport in Panama City closed the month of June with a traffic of 1,307,921 passengers, which represents 556,702 more travelers compared to the same month of the year 2021.

During the first six months of this year, the monthly movement of travelers has remained above one million, reflecting a sustained trend towards recovery and in line with the forecasts outlined by the administration of the Tocumen International Airport at the beginning of 2022 .

Raffoul Arab, General Manager of the Tocumen International Airport, indicated “that the first half of this year has been favorable with respect to general operations, which is particularly due to the return of more airlines, the increase in frequencies, the increase in the occupation, the recovery of routes, and the confidence of passengers in international travel.

Destinations and Markets

Regarding international connections, in the month of June Tocumen increased direct routes to 82 destinations, through 18 airlines that offer services to the main cities of America and Europe.

The June results indicate that of the total number of passengers who used the Tocumen terminals, 73% were connection passengers, while between January and June of this year 7,304,205 million passengers were mobilized.

According to data provided by the Department of Statistics of the Tocumen International Airport, the markets with the best regional performance in May were South America with 45%, followed by North America with 29%, the Caribbean with 11%, while Central America contributed with 10%, and European markets contributed a 5% share.

In addition, 11,165 aircraft movements were managed in June 2022.
