Xiamen Airlines has placed a firm order for 40 A320neo Family aircraft for fleet growth, making the airline Airbus’ newest customer. The deal was announced by its major shareholder, China Southern Airlines, to the Shanghai Stock Exchange.

The deal comes months after China’s three major state-owned airlines placed an order for 292 Airbus aircraft.
The aircraft will be delivered between 2024 and 2027 to Xiamen Airlines, which until now operated exclusively Boeing aircraft.
