Panama: Tocumen Airport handled 11.5 million passengers between January and September
During the first nine months of 2022, Panama City’s Tocumen International Airport handled 11,533,736 passengers, or 5,677,030 passengers more than during the same months of the previous year. While during September it mobilized 1,324,635 passengers, which represents 400,642 passengers more compared to the same month of 2021.

“We are very optimistic of a vigorous closing of the year, with the increase of direct frequencies to Istanbul by Turkish Airlines, the start of new destinations to Barranquilla and Havana from Panama Pacifico Airport and with the restart of operations of Air Canada, in the month of November, we will approach the pre-pandemic passenger records,” said Raffoul Arab, General Manager of Tocumen International Airport.
Destinations and Markets
In terms of international connections, in the month of September Tocumen increased direct routes to 83 destinations, through 18 airlines offering services to major cities in the Americas and Europe.
September results indicate that of the total number of passengers using the terminal, 76% were connecting passengers. In addition, 10,907 aircraft movements were handled.

According to data provided by the Tocumen International Airport Statistics Department, the markets with the best regional performance in September were South America with 46%, followed by North America with 28%, the Caribbean with 11%, Central America with 10%, and the European markets with 5%.
Regional Terminals and Cargo
The cargo terminal handled 18,003 metric tons of goods during the ninth month of the year.
Domestic traffic at the regional terminals managed by Tocumen International Airport registered 43,933 passengers and 1,886 aircraft operations in September.
