Avianca presented the fifth aircraft of the retro collection with which the airline commemorates the origin and history of Latin American aviation, this time sporting the image that AeroGal -today Avianca Ecuador- wore in the 2000s. It is an Airbus A320, with registration number N776AV, with the iconic yellow iguana on its tail, on a blue background of flying frigates. Previously, the company also unveiled the vintage models of TACA, Lacsa, Avianca and Aviateca.
“With this retro aircraft bearing AeroGal’s iconic image we celebrate the Ecuadorian origins that are part of our operation in Latin America. Today we are a major player in domestic connectivity and the largest operator in Ecuador with an offer of direct flights to 14 destinations in the continent and in the country. Every day we continue to build an Avianca where everyone can fly under a model that adapts to their needs, paying only for what they are going to use on their trips,” said Juan Francisco Ortiz, South America Airports Manager and Country Officer for Ecuador.

To successfully capture this image it took 4 days of work by 12 technicians at Avianca’s Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) in Medellin and more than 15 gallons of white, blue and transparent paint.
AeroGal was founded in 1985 and in 2012 became part of Avianca Group, a Latin American airline consortium that currently operates in 24 countries, has more than 130 routes and more than 3,800 weekly flights. Today, more than 600 employees are part of Avianca Ecuador, which operates 5 domestic and 9 international routes.
In the next few days, AeroGal’s vintage livery aircraft will arrive in the country to operate flights in and out of Ecuador.
