Emirates filed an application with the Colombian Civil Aeronautics Authority to operate the route between Dubai and Bogota, with a stopover in Miami.
The route would be operated with Boeing 777-200LR and 777-300ER aircraft.
Next Friday, February 16, a public hearing will be held at the Civil Aeronautics facilities to analyze the Emirati airline’s request.

If approved, Bogota would become Emirates’ fourth destination in South America, after Buenos Aires, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
This request is expected to face opposition from airlines such as American Airlines, Avianca and LATAM, which currently operate daily flights between Bogota and Miami.
