Panama’s Copa Airlines is once again recognized by Cirium as “Latin America’s Most Punctual Airline” in 2023.
The award, which was presented during a ceremony held at the company’s Maintenance Center in Panama City, highlights that the airline achieved the highest punctuality rate in the Americas with 89.5% on-time arrivals, significantly ahead of the next highest airlines in the region, and among the three highest in the world.
“To once again be recognized as the most punctual airline in Latin America and to obtain the best punctuality result in the entire American continent is the result of our firm purpose of connecting the Americas reliably and on time. This achievement is possible thanks to the teamwork, commitment, effort and dedication of Copa Airlines’ human talent in Panama and in all the countries where we operate, which is a source of great pride and satisfaction for all of us,” said Pedro Heilbron, CEO of Copa Airlines.

In addition to highlighting Copa Airlines’ on-time performance, the “The On-Time Performance (OTP)” 2023 report, presented by Cirium, highlighted the airline’s impressive schedule adherence factor for the same period, which stood at 99.84%, making Copa one of the two airlines with the fewest flight cancellations in the world.
“Congratulations to Copa Airlines not only for their exceptional on-time performance in 2023, but also for their consistency in being the most punctual Latin American airline not only in 2023, but in nine of the last 10 years. Their consistency is a testament to their commitment to operational excellence,” said Jeremy Bowen, CEO of Cirium.
Punctuality and reliability are fundamental values for Copa Airlines, as reflected in the fact that for the ninth time the airline is recognized by Cirium as the most punctual in the region, a leadership that it has maintained so far in 2024 with a rate of 89.4% in January and 91.6% in February for on-time arrivals.
During the ceremony, the airline gave special recognition to a group of 20 employees from different departments, representing all those who make it possible for the company to continue to be the leader in punctuality in the region.
Cirium’s ranking evaluates the performance of 500 airlines based on the number of seats and flights, as well as seat availability per kilometer, and categorizes them into “global” and “regional”. This ranking is based on information gathered from more than 600 global real-time flight sources, including airlines, airports, global distribution systems, position data and civil aviation authorities.
This recognition adds to the numerous awards Copa received in 2023, including being named one of the “15 Best International Airlines” by the prestigious Condé Nast Traveler magazine’s Readers’ Choice awards. In addition, Copa was also recognized for the 8th consecutive year as the best airline in Central America and the Caribbean by Skytrax and earned APEX “5-star” airline status.
