Avianca inaugurated last Sunday two new international routes: Bogota-Chicago and Medellin-San Salvador.

Both routes will operate one daily flight on Airbus A320 aircraft with capacity for 180 passengers.

In order to make the inaugural Chicago-Bogota flight a truly memorable experience, the airline surprised travelers with the award of 15 ‘Golden Tickets’, valid for a dinner for two at El Chato restaurant, by chef Alvaro Clavijo, renowned for designing the Business Class menus on Avianca flights from Bogota to selected destinations in the Americas and Europe.

Avianca announces flights between Bogota and Havana starting in December

“We are very happy to have inaugurated two new routes and a destination like Chicago for our travelers to fly more and to more destinations during the Winter season. With the entry into operation of these new routes, we complete our 13th destination in the United States to connect from Bogota and Central America; and the 30th in Medellin, offering our travelers an increasingly robust route network so they can connect to new destinations, flying with a flexible product that allows them to choose and at more competitive prices,” said David Aleman, Avianca’s director of sales for Colombia and Latin America.

With the opening of the Chicago route, Avianca completes 40 direct international destinations from Bogota and 13 destinations in operation globally to the United States:

  • From Bogota: Boston, Fort Lauderdale, Washington, Orlando, Miami, Chicago, New York.
  • From Central America: Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Ontario, San Francisco, Las Vegas.

In addition, with the start of flights between Medellin and San Salvador, Avianca customers in Antioquia will have 30 routes at their disposal: 12 domestic and 18 international.
