As part of the expansion and modernization plan for Aeroparque Jorge Newbery, and with an investment of US$11.5 million, Aeropuertos Argentina inaugurated the first stage of the Inspection and Registration Post (PIR) for domestic flight departures. This project will streamline controls and improve the passenger experience, making pre-boarding entry more efficient and fluid.

The space reserved for queuing and passenger control is now 1354m2, an expansion of more than 950m2 compared to the existing 400m2. This work will allow the Airport Security Police (PSA) to operate with 6 scanners, increasing processing capacity and making passenger flow more orderly and continuous. It will be fully operational by Thursday, December 5.

In addition, in this first phase, the sector destined for the PSA offices was enlarged and progress was made in the development of the space for the commercial premises which, at the end of the second phase, will have a total area of 1,500 m2. During the following period, the inauguration of new facilities and restrooms is also contemplated, which will provide even more comfort to passengers.

The new works were inaugurated with a ceremony attended by the Secretary of Transportation of the Nation, Franco Mogetta; the head of the PSA Unit, Rubén Ríos; the general manager of Aeroparque by Aeropuertos Argentina, Marcelo Buján; authorities of Orsna and other agencies.

“This state-of-the-art space not only enhances the passenger experience, with the capacity to handle up to 1680 people per hour, but also strengthens our commitment to safety, technology and quality,” said Marcelo Buján, Aeroparque’s general manager.

This intervention is part of the comprehensive work plan being carried out in Aeroparque, which months ago included the opening of new access roads to the airport, allowing a more efficient circulation of vehicles for the arrival of passengers and accompanying persons. The project called Nuevo Borde Costero Aeroparque Jorge Newbery included the modification of the internal roads and the articulation with the city’s road network in Costanera Avenue.

Also, new signage was designed to facilitate the user’s transit through the terminal, improvements were made in the domestic and international arrivals and departures sectors, and new commercial premises and comfortable waiting areas were built to meet the needs of all users.
