Flights between Colombia and Venezuela resumed after temporary suspension
This Sunday, commercial flights between Colombia and Venezuela, which were suspended due to the inauguration of Nicolás Maduro for a third term as president, resumed.
This measure, which went into effect on Friday, January 10, 2025 at 5:00 a.m., would initially be extended until Monday, January 13 at the same time. However, on Saturday night, Colombia’s Civil Aeronautics published on its X account that the airspace closure restriction in Venezuela had been lifted.

“The @AerocivilCol was informed of the lifting of the airspace closure restriction in Venezuela. With this, aerocommercial operations will return to normal. We recommend consulting with your airline for itinerary details,” the entity stated.
According to the governor of Táchira state, Freddy Bernal, this action was taken under the instructions of President Nicolás Maduro, after receiving reports of an alleged “international conspiracy” aimed at destabilizing peace both in the border area and in Venezuelan territory.
