On Wednesday, Aerolíneas Argentinas and several LATAM Airlines Group subsidiaries (Brazil, Colombia and Peru) entered into codeshare agreements. This agreement not only broadens travel options for passengers but also strengthens cooperation between leading airlines in the region.

What Does the Agreement Entail?

Codeshare flights allow airlines to sell tickets on each other’s domestic routes, facilitating international connections. Tickets are now available through the sales channels of both airlines for flights starting February 1, except for those involving Peru, which require government approval and will be available from April 1.

Expanded Connections and Destinations

This initial agreement provides access to more than 100 destinations in South America, including domestic routes in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, and Peru.

Notable examples include:

  • From São Paulo to Bariloche: A flight operated by LATAM Airlines Brazil to Aeroparque, connecting to Bariloche via Aerolíneas Argentinas.
  • From Buenos Aires to Cusco: A flight operated by Aerolíneas Argentinas to Lima, connecting with LATAM Airlines Peru to Cusco.

In the near future, the agreement will expand to include LATAM’s subsidiaries in Ecuador and Paraguay, with details to be announced later.

Benefits for Loyalty Programs

Starting February 1, members of the LATAM Pass and Aerolíneas Plus loyalty programs can earn miles on flights operated by both airlines, even if the flights are not codeshare. This does not yet include mileage redemption, which will be communicated soon.

LATAM Pass

  • Over 48 million members.
  • Miles redeemable for flights across a global network of destinations, as well as for products and services.

Aerolíneas Plus

  • An extensive network of international destinations.
  • Exclusive benefits for frequent flyers.

This collaboration between Aerolíneas Argentinas and the LATAM Group represents a significant step forward in passenger experience, enabling smoother connections and greater access to key destinations across South America. For frequent flyers, the ability to earn miles on flights operated by either airline greatly enhances the value of belonging to these loyalty programs.
