The Aeroparque Jorge Newbery in Buenos Aires has been awarded the Routes Americas 2025 prize in the category of “Airports with 4 to 20 million passengers.” This accolade, presented during a ceremony in Nassau, Bahamas, positions it as the best airport in the Americas in its category, surpassing notable competitors such as Calgary International Airport (Canada), Indianapolis International Airport (USA), Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (USA), and Floripa Airport (Brazil).
Investment and Modernization: Keys to Success
The recognition of Aeroparque is based on its route development, operational results, airline relations, and innovative marketing strategies. Aeropuertos Argentina, the entity responsible for its management, has implemented an ambitious modernization plan over the last five years, with an investment exceeding $1 billion. This plan has included the renovation of terminals, runways, and taxiways, in coordination with the National Airport System Regulatory Agency (Orsna).
One of the most significant advancements was the inauguration of the first phase of the new domestic passenger boarding hall, which expanded its space from 400 m² to 1,354 m², with an investment of $11.5 million. The second phase is currently under development and is expected to be completed in the coming months.

The general manager of Aeroparque, Marcelo Buján, emphasized that this recognition “reaffirms the direction of Aeropuertos Argentina to ensure that our metropolitan airport continues to provide excellent services and solidify its position as one of the best on the continent.”
Record Passengers and Operations in January
The award coincides with a new passenger record in January 2025, when the airport handled 1.52 million travelers, surpassing the December 2024 record of 1.46 million. In terms of aircraft movements, another record was set with 11,414 operations, compared to 11,281 in December.
