Korean Air has been recognized for the fifth consecutive year as a 5-star airline by Skytrax, the international air transport rating agency. This distinction, awarded after a comprehensive audit in November 2024, reaffirms its position within the select group of 10 airlines worldwide that stand out for their excellence in service and passenger experience.
Integral Evaluation of Services
The Skytrax certification is based on a detailed analysis of all passenger touchpoints throughout the airline’s global operations. Among the aspects evaluated are:
- Airport services: check-in processes, VIP lounges, boarding, connections, and baggage handling.
- Cabins and seats: comfort, privacy, and presentation in all travel classes (First, Business, and Economy).
- Onboard catering: quality of ingredients, presentation, and taste of meals, with an emphasis on flights from its base at Seoul Incheon.
- Entertainment and amenities: availability and quality of options for passengers.
- Staff service: consistency in hospitality, courtesy, and efficiency of the crew team.

Quality Standards and Global Recognition
The audit highlighted the impeccable cleanliness and high quality of cabin presentation, as well as an exceptional balance between space, comfort, and privacy in the seats. The onboard dining experience also received praise, particularly on flights from Seoul-Incheon, where the airline maintains a top-tier selection of food and beverages.
“The certification of Korean Air with the highest 5-star rating for 2025 is a testament to the consistent focus on delivering a high-quality experience to passengers. Korean Air continues to excel in key areas such as cabin comfort, catering, and highly competent onboard service,” said Edward Plaisted, CEO of Skytrax.
Skytrax Airline Rating System
The World Airline Star Rating, implemented in 1999, is an international rating system that evaluates the quality of products and services in the aviation industry. Administered by Skytrax, this program is globally recognized as a benchmark for airline standards.
