WestJet announced this Monday a new seasonal route that will link Halifax with Barcelona, Spain, starting June 27, 2025. This service will operate four times a week, providing travelers from Canada’s Atlantic coast with direct access to one of Europe’s most sought-after cities.
“This route is poised to become a favorite for those looking to explore Spain and beyond,” said John Weatherill, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer of WestJet. “The Halifax-Barcelona service complements our robust transatlantic schedule from Eastern Canada, offering passengers more options and flexibility.”

The Halifax-Barcelona connection is part of WestJet’s expansion in the transatlantic market, which will include new routes to Amsterdam and Paris, as well as the return of flights to London, Dublin, and Edinburgh.
Operating Schedule:
- Halifax → Barcelona: 4 times per week | Begins: June 27 | Ends: September 28
- Barcelona → Halifax: 4 times per week | Begins: June 28 | Ends: September 29
The route will be operated by Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft with a capacity of 174 passengers: 12 in Premium and 162 in Economy.
With this addition, the airline will operate more transatlantic flights from Halifax in the summer of 2025 than in any previous season.
