On the occasion of Aviation Maintenance Technician Day, Copa Airlines hosted a new edition of its internal competition, “Maintenance Master”, a key event that recognizes the critical work of its technical staff. Over 60 employees gathered at the airline’s Maintenance Center, located at Tocumen International Airport, to demonstrate their skills in real-world challenges simulating the operational demands of daily tasks.
14 Teams, 60 Technicians, and One Common Goal: Operational Excellence
The competition brought together 14 teams, each composed of five technicians, who competed simultaneously in tests designed to evaluate their knowledge, skills, and responsiveness. The challenges included tasks in critical areas such as engines, avionics, fuel tanks, cabin interiors, and tire assembly—all under strict safety and efficiency standards.
One of the standout teams was FlightFix Femmes, an all-women team that claimed first place in the competition. This victory marks a milestone for the industry and highlights the increasingly visible role of women in specialized technical areas of aviation.
