Avianca Launches Seasonal Flights Between San Salvador and Chicago
Avianca has inaugurated a new seasonal route between San Salvador and Chicago, which will be available during the peak summer season of 2025. This new air connection reinforces the airline’s commitment to expanding its network and enhancing connectivity between El Salvador and the United States.
Flight Itinerary Details
The route will operate three times weekly (Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday) on the following schedule:
- San Salvador → Chicago
Departure: 10:25 — Arrival: 16:05
- Chicago → San Salvador
Departure: 17:25 — Arrival: 21:05
Each week, Avianca will offer 1,080 seats on both legs of the journey, utilizing Airbus A320 aircraft with a capacity for 180 passengers.

“This route reflects our steadfast commitment to providing greater access and connectivity to the more than 1.4 million Salvadorans living in the United States. A direct link to Chicago—a city with profound cultural, social, and economic significance—will further promote tourism and trade with El Salvador,” said Reyna Mejia, Avianca’s Sales Director for Central America.
Beyond Chicago: An Expanding Network
With this new service, Avianca adds another connection to its network of 12 direct routes between San Salvador and North American cities (Boston, Dallas, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, Montreal, New York, Orlando, San Francisco, Toronto, and Washington D.C.). Additionally, it offers passengers new connecting opportunities from El Salvador to multiple destinations across Central and South America.
This seasonal air bridge aims to boost both tourism and trade between the two countries. The direct link benefits travelers visiting family, business professionals needing quick regional mobility, and tourists interested in El Salvador’s cultural and natural attractions.
