Cathay Pacific resumed its direct flights between Hong Kong and Rome this Thursday, marking its return to the Italian capital with a seasonal route that will operate during the summer of 2025. This service strengthens the Cathay Group’s global network, which is on track to reach 100 passenger destinations worldwide in the first half of the year.
Fourth New Destination in 2025 for Cathay Pacific
The addition of Rome is part of a series of strategic expansions the airline has implemented in 2025. Alongside the Italian capital, Cathay Pacific has already launched new passenger services to Hyderabad, Dallas-Fort Worth, and Urumqi. Meanwhile, the group’s low-cost carrier, HK Express, has begun flights to Sendai, Nha Trang, Ishigaki, Komatsu, Changzhou, and Yiwu, solidifying the group’s presence in key markets.
Lavinia Lau, Chief Commercial and Customer Officer of Cathay Pacific, expressed her enthusiasm for the return to the Italian capital: “Rome has long been an important destination for Cathay Pacific and a very popular one among our customers. We first launched flights to this city in 1986, and we are thrilled to reconnect our home, Hong Kong, with the Eternal City. We look forward to welcoming customers onboard with our signature service.”
