Porter Airlines is expanding its U.S. flight network with the launch this Sunday of a new direct route between Montreal-Trudeau and Newark Liberty Airport. This move reinforces the Canadian airline’s strategy in the New York metropolitan area and addresses the projected high demand for summer travel.
Up to Two Daily Flights
The new connection offers up to two daily flights operated with De Havilland Dash 8-400 aircraft, which can accommodate 78 passengers. This model ensures a more comfortable experience by eliminating the middle seat, providing greater personal space. The route will operate year-round, not just during peak season.
Scheduled Timings
The itineraries were designed to maximize traveler flexibility:
- Montreal → Newark
1:10 p.m. → 2:50 p.m. (daily)
6:35 p.m. → 8:15 p.m. (Monday to Friday and Sunday)
7:20 p.m. → 9:00 p.m. (Saturday)
- Newark → Montreal
10:45 a.m. → 12:25 p.m. (daily)
4:15 p.m. → 5:55 p.m. (daily)

Comfort and Onboard Services: The Porter Signature
Porter stands out with its “elevated economy” approach. On all flights, passengers enjoy complimentary beer and wine, along with high-quality snacks made in Canada. For those seeking additional benefits like priority boarding, extra legroom, checked baggage, or exclusive check-in counters, PorterClassic or PorterReserve fares are available.
An Expanding Network in the New York Area
This new route makes Montreal the third Canadian destination with a direct connection to Newark, alongside Toronto City and Ottawa. Additionally, Porter recently introduced a direct flight from Toronto Pearson to LaGuardia, further solidifying its presence in both key New York-area airports.
Strategic Connections: Coast-to-Coast Canada and Europe
Montreal also serves as a hub for Porter’s domestic network, which includes cities like Halifax, Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver. Through its partnership with Air Transat, passengers can connect from Montreal to multiple destinations in Europe, offering more options for international travel from northeastern Canada.
Andrew Pierce, Porter Airlines’ Vice President of Network Planning and Analysis, sums it up: “This route underscores our commitment to both cities. Travelers connecting via Montreal now have more options to explore Canada and the U.S. with Porter.”
