Discover Airlines, part of the Lufthansa Group, will enhance its short- and medium-haul operations from Frankfurt and Munich in the summer of 2026, with a clear focus on regional destinations less saturated by mass tourism. The airline is adding three new routes renowned for their cultural richness, diverse landscapes, and local charm: Shannon in Ireland, Larnaca in Cyprus, and Brindisi in Italy.
Shannon: Gateway to the Wild Atlantic Way
Starting April 4, 2026, Discover Airlines will be the only carrier offering direct flights from Germany to Shannon. This city in western Ireland serves as the perfect starting point to explore the country’s spectacular Atlantic coastline. Flights will operate twice weekly from Frankfurt, on Thursdays and Saturdays.
Larnaca: Enhanced Connectivity to Cyprus
For the first time, Cyprus joins Discover Airlines’ destination network. Beginning March 29, 2026, daily flights will connect Frankfurt and Munich to Larnaca, one of the world’s oldest cities. Additionally, Frankfurt will offer two daily flights on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, while Munich will also operate two flights on Fridays and Sundays. These routes were previously served by Lufthansa.

Brindisi: New Destination in Southern Italy
On June 2, 2026, a new route between Frankfurt and Brindisi will launch. This Adriatic port city is famous for its whitewashed villages and quintessential southern Italian coastal scenery. Flights will operate twice weekly, on Tuesdays and Fridays, and will be available until October.
More Greek and Nordic Destinations from Munich
Discover Airlines will also expand its presence in Southern Europe and Scandinavia from Munich. Starting in May, two new destinations with strong demand from Frankfurt will be added: Skiathos in Greece and Evenes in Norway.
- Skiathos: Service begins May 14, with flights on Thursdays.
- Evenes: Flights start May 13, operating on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
With these additions, the airline will offer a total of 12 destinations in Greece and three in the Nordic region from Munich.
Frankfurt Strengthens Ties with Finland
From March 30, 2026, the route to Oulu will operate as a year-round direct flight. Departures are scheduled for Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays, with only Fridays including a stopover in Kittilä.
Growing Fleet and Over 40 Destinations
To support this expansion, Discover Airlines will add two new Airbus A320 aircraft to its short- and medium-haul fleet in spring 2026, bringing the total to 18 aircraft. Eleven will operate from Frankfurt and seven from Munich. In total, the airline will serve over 40 destinations across Europe from both hubs next summer.
With this strategic growth, Discover Airlines reinforces its commitment to quality tourism, offering direct connections that open new opportunities for European travelers and position the airline as a key player in the European leisure market for 2026.
