Southwest Airlines to Land on St. Maarten Island in 2026
Southwest Airlines confirmed that starting April 7, 2026, it will add St. Maarten as its new international destination in the Caribbean, thereby expanding its operational map with an enclave that blends European and Caribbean charm. This marks the first international destination added by the company since 2021, representing a milestone in its expansion strategy.
St. Maarten: A New Air Bridge from the U.S.
Southwest’s service will launch with a daily flight between Orlando and Princess Juliana International Airport. Two days later, on April 9, 2026, the airline will expand its schedule with additional weekend routes, connecting Baltimore/Washington with St. Maarten.
These connections allow travelers to link with over 45 airports in the United States, enhancing the island’s accessibility for American tourism.

New Domestic Routes in the Schedule
In addition to its international expansion, Southwest unveiled two strategic domestic routes for 2026:
- Knoxville (Tennessee) – Denver (Colorado): Starting April 9, 2026, the company will offer seasonal service on Saturdays and Sundays, facilitating connections for travelers from the Appalachian region to the Rocky Mountains.
- Chicago O’Hare (Illinois) – Panama City (Florida): Also beginning April 9, 2026, a seasonal Saturday flight will be introduced, strengthening the connection between the Midwest and the beaches of the Gulf of Mexico.
With these additions, Southwest aims to offer more direct and convenient options both for travelers seeking weekend getaways and those prioritizing sun and beach destinations in the Caribbean.
