LATAM Suspends Lima-Havana Flights Due to Fuel Supply Crisis in Cuba
LATAM Airlines Peru has announced the cancellation of its flight operations between Lima and Havana following the total suspension of fuel supplies at José Martí International Airport. This measure will take effect starting Saturday, February 14, 2026.
According to the company, the decision is a direct response to the announcement regarding the complete lack of fuel availability at Cuba’s primary airport. This situation is beyond the carrier’s control and makes it impossible to guarantee service continuity under safe operational standards.
Repatriation Window
To assist passengers currently on the island, flights from Havana to Lima will remain operational until March 7, 2026. This limited operational window allows the airline to execute an organized repatriation strategy before the route is fully suspended.

Impact on Passengers: Commercial Options and Fee Flexibility
In light of these cancellations, LATAM Airlines Peru has activated a commercial protection scheme offering two main alternatives:
- Full Refund: A total refund without penalty, covering the entire reservation value, including seats, baggage, and any additional purchased services.
- Destination Change: Passengers may change their destination at no additional cost (within the same cabin and subject to availability) to Cancun or Punta Cana via Lima. Travel for these changes must be completed by June 30, 2026.
The airline confirmed it is maintaining direct communication with affected passengers. All rebooking or refund management can be handled via the “My Trips” section on the LATAM mobile app or through their official website.
