Air Transat has unveiled the first phase of its ambitious flight schedule for the Winter 2026-2027 season. The Canadian carrier will bolster its network by introducing four new routes to sun destinations, converting key European services into year-round operations, and strategically resuming flights to Florida.

According to Sebastian Ponce, Chief Revenue Officer at Transat, this expansion is rooted in a strategy of diversification and optimization, allowing the company to increase its footprint in high-potential markets.

Strategic Expansion in Sun Destinations

For the upcoming winter season, Air Transat has designed an offering that improves connectivity from various Canadian points to the Caribbean and Central America. Highlights include direct flights from regional airports, providing travelers with seamless access to tropical destinations without additional layovers.

New Routes for Winter 2026-2027

Starting in December 2026, the following connections will be added to the network:

  • Quebec City – San José, Costa Rica: Launching December 15 with one weekly frequency.
  • Toronto – Fort-de-France, Martinique: Operating twice weekly starting December 19.
  • London, Ontario – Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic: One weekly flight beginning December 15.
  • Charlottetown – Punta Cana, Dominican Republic: One weekly frequency starting December 16.

Consolidation of the European Market and Year-Round Routes

A fundamental pillar of this announcement is the transformation of seasonal summer routes into year-round operations. This decision aims to provide greater flexibility for travelers wishing to visit Europe outside of the peak season.

Transatlantic Routes with Year-Round Service and Extensions

  • Toronto – Paris: Will become a year-round route with four weekly flights starting October 25, 2026.
  • Montreal – Barcelona: Will be offered year-round with two weekly frequencies starting October 27, 2026.
  • Quebec City – Nantes: The summer seasonal route will be extended through the holiday period (from December 16, 2026, to January 13, 2027) to meet high demand.

Strengthening the Quebec Hub and the Return of Florida

Air Transat is reinforcing its position as the leading carrier at Quebec City Jean Lesage International Airport. In addition to the new route to Costa Rica, the airline will increase its frequencies to Cancun to eight weekly flights and to Fort-de-France to two flights per week.

Furthermore, after a summer hiatus, the state of Florida returns to the Winter 2026-2027 program with direct flights to Fort Lauderdale:

  • From Montreal: Up to seven weekly flights (starting November 16, 2026).
  • From Quebec City: Three weekly flights (starting November 15, 2026).
  • From Halifax: One weekly flight (starting December 16, 2026).

This first phase of Air Transat’s winter program demonstrates a commitment to consolidating its presence in Eastern Canada and an agile response to market trends. The airline has signaled that this is only the beginning, with an additional “wave of announcements” expected for next winter, including further network developments and new strategic partnerships.
