Avelo Airlines commenced operations at Indianapolis International Airport on Thursday with two new nonstop routes, directly connecting the region with New Haven, Connecticut, and Charlotte/Concord, North Carolina. This expansion establishes the carrier as the sole airline offering direct flights between Indianapolis and these two destinations, streamlining connectivity across the US Midwest.
Operational Details and Fleet
The airline’s new service will operate twice weekly, with flights scheduled on Thursdays and Sundays. To support this schedule, the company will deploy Boeing 737 Next-Generation aircraft.
To commemorate the launch, the inaugural promotional code “IND50” has been activated. This code offers travelers a “buy one, get the second at 50% off” discount on base fares for round-trip flights scheduled between June and December.

Connectivity via Efficient Alternative Airports
The route strategy relies on utilizing optimized air terminals designed to avoid the congestion and delays typically associated with major hubs:
- Tweed-New Haven Airport: Marketed as the premier alternative for travel to Connecticut, it offers a simplified, crowd-free passenger experience. Its location provides convenient access to multiple major highways and commuter rail lines, facilitating onward travel to the New England and New York regions.
- Concord Padgett Regional Airport: Located just a short drive from downtown Charlotte and its surrounding suburbs. Due to its moderate scale, it serves as a fast, stress-free alternative to the long lines and frequent delays common at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
Andrew Levy, Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Avelo Airlines, expressed the company’s enthusiasm about entering this market:
“Indianapolis, say hello to Avelo! We are excited to bring our affordable fares, convenient travel experience, and industry-leading reliability to Central Indiana with new nonstop service to two popular destinations: New Haven, Conn., and Charlotte/Concord, N.C.”
Avelo Airlines Operational Performance
Since launching commercial operations on April 28, 2021, the airline has consolidated the following traffic and network metrics:
- Passengers Carried: Over 9.6 million customers.
- Flights Operated: Surpassing 76,000 sectors.
- Destination Network: 34 total destinations across 14 states and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
The addition of these direct routes strengthens the carrier’s point-to-point connectivity model, allowing Central Indiana passengers to bypass intermediate hubs and reduce overall travel costs.
